October 14, 2026

In a seminar organized jointly by the Mersin University Advanced Technology Education, Research, and Application Center (MEİTAM) and METRA
held at the Uğur Oral Cultural Center (Hall B) as part of Liver Cancer Awareness Month
Dr. Gökhan Ünlü, a researcher from The Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, delivered a presentation titled
"Mitochondrial Profiling: The Link Between Metabolic and Immune Vulnerability in Liver Cancer."
Drawing on current research data, he highlighted the critical role of organelle-specific metabolomic and genetic screening platforms in uncovering
metabolic weaknesses and immune evasion mechanisms in liver cancer.
The seminar, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Bakır Koyuncu (Faculty Member in the Department of Internal Medicine/Hematology at Mersin University Faculty of Medicine
and METRA Advisor) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya Yetkin (representing MEİTAM), drew strong participation from academics, researchers, and graduate students.
The event, which attracted great interest, concluded with a Q&A session addressing participants' inquiries, a discussion on potential future collaborations, and a group photo.
Our center remains committed to bringing current scientific developments to researchers and hosting multidisciplinary academic events.
